It’s fair to say that as the years go by we become very attached to our favourite cartoon characters, especially those that make us laugh when we need a bit of a pick-me-up. However, what you might not know is that most of them have undergone an extreme transformation compared to when they were first introduced to our screens. So, here we have for you, a few of our favourite cartoon makeovers…
1. Peter Griffin, Family Guy.
It looks like the Peter Griffin we know and love today has put on a bit of weight from his former self, believe it or not. He also used to be a bit more tanned!

2. Lois Griffin, Family Guy.
It’s hard to imagine Lois Griffin without her famous red hair, not to mention her green shirt/beige pants combo. But back in the day she was originally blonde and perhaps less inclined towards her signature frown.

3. Stewie Griffin, Family Guy.
The brilliant thing about this makeover is that Family Guy actually based a whole episode on Stewie meeting his former self called ‘Stu & Stewie’s Excellent Adventure’ where they poke fun at how differently (and more evil-looking) they’d designed him initially.

4. Homer Simpson, The Simpsons.
Seeing the evolution of Homer Simpson as it developed as quite outstanding, especially seeing as he used to be relatively slim and have considerably more hair. Oddly enough though he used to look older which is somewhat confusing.

5. Marge Simpson, The Simpsons.
Possibly my favourite cartoon character makeover of all time, it looks like Marge has undergone some kind of facial reconstruction, along with a major restyling in the hair and clothing department.

6. Bart Simpson, The Simpsons.
Much like his mother and father before him, Bart Simpson as we know him today has undergone a complete and utter transformation, mainly focussed around his eyes, hair and eventually a change in outfit.

7. Lisa Simpson, The Simpsons.
You’re probably noticing a pattern emerging here in terms of the Simpsons and their cavalier approach to hairstyles but thankfully they decided to adapt Lisa in to the sweet angelic girl we know today.

8. Eric Cartman, South Park.
It is so hard to believe that South Park originated from such a basic set of drawings but believe me, it’s true. And whilst Cartman’s outfit has remained basically the same, he certainly has put on a few pounds and developed a very distinguishable set of frowning eyebrows.

9. Kyle Broflvski, South Park.
Kyle on the other hand (pictured to the left of the snowman) looks a far cry from the wide-eyed, green snow-hat wearing character we know today.

10. Stan Marsh, South Park.
Although the premise of Stan is basically the same, Trey Parker and Matt Stone must have decided to the main protagonist of their show needed a bit more to his look.
